tusla’s unannounced inspection on October 9th and 10th, 2024, specifically highlighted “repeat non-compliances” across crucial areas like governance, infection control, and communication with parents. Located on Windmill Road in Crumlin village, CCC cares for toddlers and primary school children aged one too six. while the inspection found an adequate number of staff assigned to the children, serious concerns arose regarding the designated person in charge’s understanding of policies and procedures. Additionally, a lack of complete training for all employees was noted.

Perhaps the most alarming finding was that five out of fifteen medication governance records lacked signed parental consent.This raises urgent questions about the continuity of care for the children. As the report states, “This is at variance with the medication policy in place in the service. This poses a risk to the continuity of care to a child.” The report further highlighted a concerning lack of communication regarding children’s injuries, as four accident and incident forms did not record parents being informed about their child’s injuries.

The inspection also exposed several hygiene issues, posing potential infection risks. Shared bedclothes and communal, soapy water hand washing practices raised immediate concerns. The lack of cleaning tables before meals and placing snacks directly on quickly-wetting tissues further compounded the issue.

Other deficiencies discovered included the absence of monthly fire drills, inadequate heating, and incomplete maintenance of the facility.
