Approaching Hunter Bidenthe son of the US president, from the promised day of the issuance of a prominent decision in a lawsuit in the state of Arkansas, during which he requested to reduce child support and prevent his daughter from taking his last name.
The president’s son faces a statement this month and a trial in July once morest London Roberts, the mother of his daughter, who was born on August 28, 2018.
The judge had ordered Hunter Biden in March 2020 to pay child support money, but Hunter requested in September 2022 to reduce the amount due to his variable income, which led to the postponement of the trial date, according to the American newspaper “USA Today”.
The report revealed that there is another point of contention related to the name of the child, as her mother wants her to be associated with the Biden family name, due to the family’s political fame and commercial success, but Hunter opposes this because of the “political war” that she might face.
The case is just one of the legal challenges facing Hunter Biden, who has become a source of concern for Republicans in Congress, who are investigating how he affected President Joe Biden.
House Republicans are investigating whether Hunter Biden has been rewarded for his influence over the administration through lucrative business deals or art sales, allegations he and the White House have denied.
His ex-wife, Roberts, filed the case in May 2019, seeking to determine Hunter Biden’s paternity and obtain child support.
Biden initially resisted, but his paternity was verified in January 2020. An agreement to support the child under a “final” order was reached in March 2020, backdated to November 2018.
But Hunter Biden has revived the case by asking for a reduction in the amount of child support he was paying. His attorney, Brent Langdon, noted a “fundamental change” in his financial circumstances.
During a hearing in May, attorney Abe Lowell revealed that Hunter Biden pays $20,000 a month in child support, totaling $750,000 annually.
Roberts’ lawyers opposed the move, citing business deals in Ukraine and China, where House Republicans are investigating art sales.
The attorneys noted that Biden pays several attorneys, including Lowell, $855 an hour and others representing “Hollywood’s elite,” to represent him in congressional inquiries and now in the paternity case.
Independence County Circuit Judge Holly Meyer has set June 13-16 dates for Hunter Biden and others to file statements in the case ahead of an expected July trial.
After Biden filed a motion to reopen the child support debate, Roberts filed her motion in December to change the child’s last name, whose initials were NJR, to the Bidens.
Her lawyers said the girl deserved the name Biden because the name “has now become synonymous with being well-educated, successful, financially serious and politically strong.”
Hunter Biden is considered a “widely successful businessman,” a “powerful lobbyist” and “apparently a famous artist,” according to the filing, and the girl’s grandparents are the president and first lady.
But Hunter Biden opposed the change, and his attorney said Roberts was waging a “political war once morest the defendant and his family,” and “fame would undoubtedly rob the child of a peaceful life.”
