The 8-year-old child who was involved in the accident was taken to the hospital in an unconscious state, but eventually died.

The intersection where the accident occurred is a ‘Children’s Protection Zone’ with two elementary schools nearby, and it is one of only 13 right-turn traffic lights installed nationwide.

Police said at the time of the accident, the red light was on at the right turn signal and the green light was on at the pedestrian traffic light.

The child was crossing the crosswalk at the green light on the way home from school, and the bus driver hit the child while turning right at the red light.
