Kolkata: Pro-Congress lawyers have protested once morest former Union Minister and senior advocate P Chidambaram, who appeared in the Calcutta High Court to represent the Bengal government. They waved a black flag at Chidambaram as he returned from the court and called back.
Chidambaram, a senior Congress leader, has come to advocate for the Bengal government in the Metro Diary case filed by Bengal Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary.
Lawyers have claimed that Chidambaram was Mamata’s broker and was responsible for the downfall of the Congress. A lawyer said that Congress workers and people were suffering under the Trinamool government and were spitting in the face of Chidambaram who had come to defend the Bengal government.
The case relates to the sale of shares in Metro Dairy, a public-private partnership, to a private company at a reduced price. The Enforcement Directorate is also investigating the case.
