ACTOR Chicco Kurniawan will star in a new film titled 1 Kakak 7 Nepokan directed by Yandy Laurens. In the film, Chicco will play the role of Moko, the main character of the film.
Moko is an architecture student who has just graduated from college but suddenly has to face the pressure of having to take care of his nephews.
In the film 1 Kakak 7 Ponakan, Chicco will act with Amanda Rawles, who plays Maurin, his lover. He will also play with Ringgo Agus Rahman, Niken Anjani, Freya JKT48, Maudy Koesnaedi, and Kiki Narendra.
“Moko is a character who has a very big heart. He really likes to work hard,” said Chicco regarding his role during a thanksgiving press conference to kick off the shooting of the film 1 Kakak 7 Ponakan in Babooji, Gunawarman, Jakarta, Tuesday, (2/7/2024).
“To prepare for my role as Moko, I was very, very happy. Yandy seemed to exploit my feelings, in a positive context. As an actor, I felt emotionally drained but not tired,” Chicco continued.
The film 1 Kakak 7 Neponakan will begin filming on July 5, 2024. Previously, the cast had gone through a reading camp process as final preparation. The film 1 Kakak 7 Neponakan is produced by Mandela Pictures and Cerita Films. This is the third feature film from Yandy Laurens.

The film is an adaptation of the 90s soap opera of the same title, by Arswendo Atmowiloto. Yandy previously in his feature film directorial debut also worked on a film adapted from Arswendo’s popular work, Keluarga Cemara, which became a blockbuster in theaters with 1.8 million viewers.
In addition to directing, in the film 1 Kakak 7 Nepokan Yandy also wrote the screenplay. According to Chicco, Yandy wrote well and neatly so that he had no trouble doing character research and exploration.
“Just discuss, what direction Yandy wants. Sometimes many actors talk regarding technical things. Interestingly, following almost two months of this process, most of it is not the technical things that are discussed but the feelings that emerge as humans. For example, why the character Moko chooses this and that choice. All of that search was also assisted by other friends in this film. During the camp reading, I was still anxious. But when the camera was free rolling, with Niken Anjani and Maudy Koesnaedi, many changes occurred. So to complete and find the character, everything must be connected to the characters in this film,” Chicco concluded. (Z-8)
