CHICAGO — Yasmani Grandal tied the game with a double and Oscar Colás followed with an RBI single that gave the Chicago White Sox a 7-6 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday.
Reliever Jimmy Lambert (1-0) got the win despite giving up an unearned run in the ninth inning.
Baltimore scored in the top of the tenth inning. Jorge Mateo led off with a sacrifice bunt for automatic runner Terin Vavra to advance to third.
Adley Russchmann prevented what would have been a double play, for Vavra to score.
But Grandal’s double off reliever Austin Voth (0-2) started Chicago’s reaction. Jake Burger singled, and Colás drove in pinch runner Seby Zavala on his single.
For the Orioles, Venezuelan Anthony Santander 5-2 with a run scored and an RBI. The Mexican Ramón Urías from 1-1.
For the White Sox, Cubans Luis Robert Jr. 5-0, Grandal 5-3 with an RBI, Colás 5-1 with an RBI. Dominican Eloy Jimenez 4-0 with a run scored. Venezuelans Lenyn Sosa 4-1, Elvis Andrus 2-2 with two runs scored.
