CHICAGO — The Chicago Blackhawks have acquired forward Taylor Hall from the Boston Bruins in a multi-player trade.
The Hawks have traded defensemen Ian Mitchell and Alec Regula back to the Bruins, who are also parting with forward Nick Foligno, allowing them to create some space under the salary cap before the player market opens autonomous.
The 31-year-old Hall scored 16 goals and added 20 assists in 61 games last season. He was the first-ever draft pick by the Edmonton Oilers in 2010. The Blackhawks have the first-ever draft pick for Thursday. They should then select Connor Bedard.
In 822 NHL games, Hall scored 693 points, including 264 goals.
Foligno is a veteran of 1,081 NHL games, during which he scored 215 goals in addition to being an accomplice in 310 others.
Mitchell has split his time between the NHL and AHL the past three seasons, the 2017 second-round pick played 82 games in Chicago, scoring four times and adding 12 assists.
Regula was a Detroit Red Wings third-round pick in 2018. He played 22 games in three seasons with the Hawks, scoring one goal.
In addition, the Bruins acquired defenseman Reilly Walsh from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for forward Shane Bowers.
Walsh, 24, has scored 23 goals and 76 assists in 174 career games with the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League. Walsh was selected in the third round, 81st overall, by the Devils in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.
For his part, Bowers has played only one career NHL game, with the Colorado Avalanche, in 2022-23. He was selected in the first round, 28th overall, by the Ottawa Senators in the 2017 NHL auction.
