[EN VIDÉO] With this wheel, a simple bicycle becomes electric In recent years, a new generation of bicycles has emerged. Electric, connected, intelligent,…
The Swedish start-up Vélosophy will launch this summer a new model made in particular from recycled aluminum coffee capsules, in partnership with Nespresso. This ethical bike, called RE:CYCLE, is in fact an evolved reissue of a first model released in 2019. Through this initiative, Velosophy wants to inspire other manufacturers to use all kinds of recycled materials in the design of their bicycles. For its part, Nespresso has been trying to improve its image in terms of recycling in recent years, sometimes by embarking on original projects like this one.
A bike equipped for drinking coffee
Note also the capsule-shaped bell and the presence of a cup holder, to enjoy your coffee (or any other drink). The frame of this bike is made from 95% recycled aluminum, including 20% from Nespresso capsules. This edition, called California Dream Blue, is available in standard and electric versions, priced at 1,595 and 2,795 euros respectively. The set has been on sale in a limited edition of 500 copies since July 2023. Pre-orders are already open.
Note that Vélosophy also promises to offer a bicycle to a schoolgirl in a developing country for each RE:CYCLE sold, in collaboration with the NGO World Bicycle Relief. The days of classic steel bikes are now long gone, at a time when alternative solutions are multiplying, whether models made of ash, bamboo or even 3D printed carbon fiber.
