The film directed by Bala became Vikram’s first hit.

‘Chiyan’ was the name of Vikram’s character in Sethu. Filming began in 1997, but the release was delayed by two years due to technical issues. Until the release of the movie, Vikram was walking around with a clean shaven look. As a reward for his self-sacrifice, Vikram was known as ‘Chyan Vikra’. The actor won his first state film award and Filmfare award with this film.
