The Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux decided, on December 18, to suspend the license of the well-known Montreal bar for a period of two weeks. Chez Parée was also fined $30,000.

According to the judgment, agents of the City of Montreal Police Service spent six years, from March 2017 to March 2023, identifying crimes committed within the bar.

“In the present case, the police observed, on 40 occasions, the presence in the establishment of members of outlaw motorcycle gangs (BMHL), some of whom wore distinctive signs linked to their gang,” described judge Natalia in particular. Ouellette.

Among the other issues raised, note 13 cases of fights between customers, including three where assaults were committed once morest police officers; 11 customers observed with weapons; four customers seen with drugs and 14 police interventions with drunk customers.

Investigators also noted that the bar’s owners let bikers and other known criminals in, even sparing some of them from having to go through the search required for regular customers.

The owners have committed to making fixes, including turning away criminalized individuals, searching all customers and increasing security.
