Beloved ARIA Award-winning singer Zulya Kamalova died on Wednesday at the age of 55 after a long battle with cancer.
The singer was born in Russia in 1969 and moved there Melbourne in 1991, where she lived and performed for many years.
Her music producer Alexander Cheparukhin confirmed the heartbreaking news on social media.
‘Zulya left us today, shortly after her 55th birthday. She was with her daughter and husband in her final hours,” she wrote.
“I spoke to her for the last time early last week. She has not given up hope for a miracle. She was grateful for all of us who helped her give people beautiful songs.
‘Zulya was a very good, brilliant, sincere and beautiful person. All these last weeks I have been listening to her music again. She sang in many languages, may her voice live on. Blessed memory.”
