Chengdu exhibition paves way for international business

CHENGDU, China, March 20, 2024 – The Chengdu International Horticultural Exhibition 2024 opened on Friday, attracting hundreds of exhibitors from more than 30 countries.

Ahead of the event, the Chengdu Opening-up and International Cooperation Center organized several seminars between local companies and delegations from overseas cities that have friendly relations with Chengdu. On Thursday, a group from Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia and twin city of Chengdu, met with local companies that specialize in environmental and nature conservation.

“We are very grateful to the center for inviting us to the meeting,” said Zeng Xi, director of the investment and development department of Chengdu Environment and Investment Urban Management Service, a wholly owned subsidiary of Chengdu Environment Group.

“We found some areas of common interest between our group and Ljubljana, such as: “E.g. renewable resources, environmental protection and new energy photovoltaics,” Zeng said, adding that he hopes to build an effective communication channel between the two sides for future cooperation.

Dejan Crnek, Deputy Mayor of Ljubljana, said: “We intend to cooperate with Chengdu in the field of sustainable transport. We all know that the city has an advanced hydrogen-powered vehicle and battery industry, and we hope to introduce these technologies in our city to increase urban operational efficiency. After I return, I will recommend Chengdu companies to relevant authorities, and I am sure there will be opportunities for cooperation.”

Representatives from Fergana, Uzbekistan also visited the center on Thursday and met with local companies in the fields of trade, business, industry and cultural tourism. Participating companies from Chengdu included Gioneco, a developer of digital urban platforms that has already launched projects in Uzbekistan.

“We have been preparing our projects in Uzbekistan since 2022 and have advanced to Fergana,” said Liu Yong, director of Gioneco’s marketing development department. “It is expected that with the support of the center, we will have access to more international resources in the near future .In the meantime, we plan to bring our business friends from Uzbekistan to Chengdu to help local companies enter the international market and promote bilateral trade.”

Azimjon Yuldashev, head of the Fergana Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry Department of Uzbekistan, expressed his admiration for the business environment in Chengdu and said he hopes the center will establish a cooperation platform to help more Chinese companies enter Uzbekistan grow, and to support Uzbek companies in coming to China.
