The singer, suffering from prostate cancer, must undergo treatment every three weeks. He must then take a few days off. This situation has obviously upset the Cowboys’ tour schedule, which had several concerts planned for the past few months.
“This summer, we had to be replaced at three festivals by Les Trois Accords,” says bassist Jérôme Dupras. This fall, we may have had to postpone regarding fifteen shows. But we haven’t canceled any shows. Everything is postponed until spring or autumn. »
Understanding audience
Jérôme Dupras mentions that the public understands the situation very well these days when dates have to be postponed. “It’s only positive in the messages, a dose of love and support. Everyone understands. Health before all. »
“For those who have had the chance to see a show during these treatments, there is not really a difference in terms of energy and good nature. We always have the same pleasure to be on stage. There is perhaps an even greater emotional dimension when the audience realizes what they are going through and they are still there on stage delivering 2h30 of music. »
The Cowboys have many shows planned in Quebec during the first half of next year. A return to Europe is only planned for November 2023. “Karl becomes immunosuppressed following his treatment. It is not possible to travel, explains Jérôme. We’re going to have a pretty major big venue tour in the fall there. We will hope, by then, that everything is back to normal and that we can go and do these shows. »
The Cowboys Fringants will play at the Bell Center (January 6, 2023) and at the Videotron Center (January 14, 2023).
