Chelsea have formalized the arrival of Ecuadorian player Moises Caicedo from Brighton. The soap opera of this transfer reached its epilogue on Monday. The defensive midfielder has signed an eight-year contract, with an option for an additional year, tying him to the London club until 2031. The transfer fee has not been revealed.
Caicedo, 21, joined the club from Brighton in 2021 for the sum of 5 million euros. He then played 3 games for the Brighton reserve team, before being loaned to the Beerschot, where he had played 14 games for the Antwerp club for 2 goals and 1 assist. The Santo Domingo native was then recalled from his loan spell by Brighton in the winter of 2022. He has since taken part in 53 appearances for the Seagulls accumulating 2 goals and 3 assists.
