Spanish press reports revealed that Chelsea are planning to sign Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong, Barcelona midfielder, during the current summer Mercato, especially following he rejected his transfer to Manchester United.
And the newspaper “Sport”, that Chelsea may resort to a reciprocal deal with Barcelona in order to include De Jong this summer, by entering the duo Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta, wanted from the Catalan club, as part of the deal.
The newspaper added that Chelsea is seeking to take advantage of Barca’s desire to include the team duo, in order to reduce the value of the deal to include the Dutch midfielder.
The newspaper indicated that the Dutch player prefers to play for the Blues team, and that he will accept the offer the moment he arrives at the Catalan club, which prefers to sell the player during the current summer in order to reduce the value of the players’ salaries in the team.
And Xavi Hernandez had raised the mystery regarding De Jong’s future, following the victory over the New York Red Bulls, saying: “There is still time until the market closes on August 31, and a lot of things can happen, everyone is part of the team.”
De Jong joined Barcelona in the summer of 2019 from the Dutch team Ajax, in a deal that exceeded 75 million euros.
