Chef Pierre Orsi’s restaurant will close its doors at the end of April

If the establishment of the 6th arrondissement will soon close its doors, chef Orsi and his wife will remain in the kitchens of the Cazenove brewery.

It is a real Lyon institution which is going to close its doors. La Maison Orsi, chef Pierre Orsi’s restaurant, will close on April 29, following half a century of existence.

“An approach matured over the past few months, taking into account a global context but also my personal aspirations,” said the chef in a press release published on Monday.

The former apprentice of Paul Bocuse, now 84 years old, had been distinguished Meilleur Ouvrier de France in 1972, and one of the first French chefs to make his cuisine known in the United States, first in Chicago. and Indianapolis.

Double-starred in the Michelin guide in 1980, he had however lost a star in 2019, before going through a difficult period, like many restaurateurs, during the health crisis.

If the chef says he is “at peace” today with the decision to close the doors of the famous restaurant in the 6th arrondissement of Lyon, he does not completely give up his apron: he will remain, with his wife Geneviève, in the kitchens of the Cazenove brewery. , next to Maison Orsi.

As for knowing what will happen to the building which hosted the legendary restaurant for nearly 50 years on Place Kléber, the chef still allows himself “a few months” to make a decision, but specifies that “investors are interested”.
