“The apple is a superfood, not only because of its nutrition, which it is, but because of how easy it is to eat, because of how rich it is, because of how practical it is, and in addition to the fact that we have this fruit all year round. So it becomes a snack, a dessert, a salad, etc. ”, says the chef as he begins the apple pie process next to his daughter Valentina, as part of the Children’s Day celebration .

She cuts the Gala-type apples, while he puts the butter in the pan to start cooking; while the experience is emulated by a dozen cooking enthusiasts who take the chef’s class, including Juan Carlos Moreirarepresentative in Mexico of the Washington Apple Commission, who with his daughter Mariluz Moreira also follows the instructions and tips to achieve a good result with the proposals that the chef chose to celebrate the little ones.

In his participation, Juan Carlos highlights that in addition “our planet is the only one where there are apples, a fruit that is appreciated all over the world for its versatility”.

The chef continues with the recipe and once the apple with walnuts, blueberries, cinnamon and sugar has been cooked, he instructs Valentina to prepare the puff pastry; while Juan Carlos adds that in Washington “there are orchards that are many years old, there are even trees that are over 30 years old and continue to bear wonderful fruit; there are also areas where there are families that are in the fifth generation producing apples”.

The cake has been put in the oven and while it takes its cooking time, the chef begins with the covered apple dessert, while reiterating the benefits of the fruit “the apple is so practical that you can eat it from bites to very elaborate or as simple as the ones we are preparing. And also if you eat them cold, after putting them in the refrigerator, they are sensational”.

Having flattened the chamoy pulp, Valentina gives it to the chef, who has already prepared the Granny Smith apple with a corn stick so that he can hold the apple and cover it with the paste.

“This dessert is made with this apple, which is a little more acidic, but it is a great proposal for children and it can also be a great option to take it to school for snack; now that it can also become an idea to do business, so as you will see the options offered by the apple are many. And of course we can add all the richness of its nutrients to that,” says the chef.

Valentina and Aquiles as well as Juan Carlos and Mariluz have finished their proposals, the covered apples have been placed inside some bags, ready to become the gift of the little ones in their day; while the cake has also been baked and gives off an aroma of apple and cinnamon that provokes the craving.

“As you can see, there are two recipes, simple, fast and very tasty to celebrate children on their day. So go ahead and prepare dishes with apples that are so rich and versatile”, concludes the chef.

The recipes

GRANNY SMITH APPLE PALLET WITH CHAMOY

INGREDIENTS:

• Manzana “GRANNY SMITH” 10 PZ

• Chamoy ½ kg

• Tamarind pulp ½ kg

• Chile powder (tajin) ½ kg

• Sugar ½ kg

• Lemon juice 1 cup

PROCESS

• Wash and dry the apples very well, this so that the chamoy can adhere very well.

• Place the sweet chili powder in a container, add the tamarind concentrate or pulp and the chamoy and mix very well until you get a kind of paste.

• Before piercing the apples, rub a little lemon on the tips of the toothpicks to prevent the apple from browning. Once this is done, insert the wooden stick below the apple.

• Take pieces of the chamoy paste and begin to cover the apple little by little. Sprinkle some chili powder to seal the chamoy layer and press to finish shaping.

SWEET CAKE WITH GALA APPLE

INGREDIENTS:

• Apple “GALA” 10 pieces

• Butter 90 gr

• Blueberries 150 gr

• Chopped walnuts 150 gr

• Sugar 250 gr

• Cinnamon powder 10 gr

• Salt in grain to taste

• Yellow lemon 3 pcs

• Puff pastry ½ kg

• Egg 1 pc

• Orange juice 100 ml

• Egg 1 pc

Procedure

Peel and chop the apples and reserve in a bowl with water so that it does not brown and reserve. On the other hand, in the iron skillet place the butter and let melt for 5 minutes add the blueberries, nuts and sauté, add the apple sauté until golden brown and cooked add the other ingredients. Saute for 5 minutes, season and cover with the puff pastry, varnish with egg and bake at 220 degrees for 20 minutes.
