The warm temperatures of last weekend set the bar high, so sun lovers were all the more disappointed this weekend. Can at least the public holiday be used for an excursion into nature or will that also fall through – literally – into the water? And what’s next following that?
The changeable weather will continue in the coming week, as forecast by the Geosphere Austria meteorologists on Sunday. But it will be even warmer than last. Even if the early temperatures are still in the single digits, over 20 degrees are possible during the day.
1st May
In some federal states, anyone who goes on a day-long holiday trip outside is only lucky to stay dry – wind hairstyles are likely. Because Monday begins in the west already overcast and rain falls in Vorarlberg and Tyrol. There are also some clouds in the southeast. Otherwise, the sunny weather character generally predominates, with only high cloud fields. During the day, the heavier clouds continue to spread and the rain in the west intensifies.
In Upper Styria and in Upper and Lower Austria, the wind blows briskly from the east to south-east, otherwise it remains weak to moderate. The morning temperatures reach zero to nine degrees, the daily maximum temperatures 13 to 22 degrees.
According to ZAMG, the friendly and sunny weather character predominates in Vienna, but during the day there are increasingly extensive cloud fields in high layers across the sky. The wind blows moderately, from midday often briskly from the south-east. Early temperatures around 5 degrees, maximum daily temperatures up to 20 degrees.
Tuesday and Wednesday cloudy
Tuesday will be cloudy, often cloudy all day. It will also rain widely, mostly in the west at first, later in the south and from the followingnoon in the east. The wind blows weak to moderate from different directions, in the mountains there is sometimes a brisk north wind. The early temperatures are six to eleven degrees, during the day the temperatures rise only slightly, a maximum of ten to 18 degrees is reached.
In the north-east and east on Wednesday dense clouds often remain all day and it rains regionally at times, with a snowfall limit of 1,500 meters above sea level, otherwise there are only local showers and during the day it loosens up and the sun shines more and more often. The wind blows moderately, in the east and on the eastern edge of the Alps sometimes briskly from north-west to north-east. Early temperatures reach six to eleven degrees, the daily maximum temperatures ten to 20 degrees, with the highest temperatures in the west and south.
Sun towards the weekend, but not everywhere
On Thursday, the sun usually shines in large parts of the country. Only to the east are there still some heavier patches of cloud, but at times the sun is shining here too. There will be light to moderate north-west to east winds. Morning temperatures rise to one to nine degrees, the daily highs to 16 to 24 degrees, it is warmest in the extreme west.
On Friday, clouds will move in from the west and they will bring rain showers. In the east and south it will be sunny and dry for longer until the followingnoon. Then the risk of showers increases here too. The wind usually blows only weakly. The morning temperatures reach five to eleven degrees, the daily maximum temperatures 18 to 24 degrees.
