Many Belgians opt for the bus to go on vacation, especially to travel in Europe. It is above all the advantageous prices of these journeys that attract Belgians. But not only.
1 An increasingly well-known means of transport
For this weekend of departure on vacation, hundreds of people thicken the lines in front of the buses bound for Europe. “C’est full !”says Saif, steward and guide for a bus company. “It’s picked up pace now, there are a lot of people traveling like that.”
2 A remarkable economy
What primarily motivates travelers is the attractive price of bus tickets. “It’s much cheaper” say the travelers interviewed at the micro RTL INFO. “Worth it for the price”confirms Saif the steward. “Today, we take the bus for nothing at all.”
For example, to do Brussels-Paris in 4, there are tickets between 29 and 69€. Unbeatable in the face of fuel prices.
3 Fewer costs
If bus journeys have the coast, it is also thanks to the increase in fuel prices. Charles Billard is spokesperson for Flixbus Benelux, he explains: “The first factor is the rise in fuel prices which affects everyone, the bus is more economical to travel, to this is added inflation which has the same effect: people have less power to purchase.”
4 Optimized conditions
Gone is the image of the uncomfortable ride waiting impatiently for the last few minutes. Today, buses are generally equipped with Wifi and are more flexible in terms of travel conditions. “I don’t know if it’s because people have less money, I think people have mostly understood that it’s easier by bus”, notes a vacationer. This success would also be due to accessibility: “It’s very clean, it’s available everywhere”.
