If you’re looking for a new laptop that won’t break your budget, and that allows you to play when the mood takes you, we’ve probably found a model that should interest you. Indeed, the Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 offers us a rather attractive technical sheet for a more than contained price, especially with the reduction of the day. We tell you everything.
Well known to the public and with a rather solid reputation, the Chinese assembler Lenovo now offers us its Ideapad 3 in a rather honest configuration, especially given the price currently charged at Darty. Displayed at 799€ instead of 1079€ (i.e. a good 25% reduction all the same), this bike seems to have all the arguments to seduce active nomads who wish to be able to walk around their machine to work the day, and make a small game in the evening, once back home.
It all starts with a 15.6-inch diagonal IPS panel, with FHD resolution and anti-reflective treatment. Moreover, to appeal to fans of competitive games, Lenovo has opted for a screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz, a guarantee of absolute fluidity in competitive titles. Small flat, it will be necessary to be satisfied with a colorimetric spectrum a little reduced with 45% of the NTSC gamut, while the lamp offers only 250 nits.

This panel is powered by an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card with 6 GB of GDDR6. While this model isn’t the fastest, especially in a mobile configuration, it shouldn’t have any trouble running most Triple A games at 1080p with a decent framerate. And all the more so if you show yourself measured in the graphics options menu. However, we can count on the presence of DLSS technology to gain a little more performance on compatible games.

At the heart of the beast, there is an AMD Ryzen 5 5600H octacore CPU with 16MB of cache memory and a frequency of 3.3Ghz (and 4.2Ghz in boost mode). Weak point of this machine, the chip is only supported by 8 GB of DDR4 3200Mhz memory. That said, the device accepts up to 16GB, and the memory comes in the form of SODIMM modules, and not as memory chips directly soldered on the motherboard.
We will therefore be able to easily install 16GB of RAM, by removing only a few screws. If ever the upgrade interests you, know that the 16 GB SODIMM barette signed Crucial is currently trading at €65 at Amazon (instead of 73€, a small 10% reduction is always good to take).
A perfect 15-inch for 1080p gaming at a low price
As far as storage is concerned, we are entitled to the regulatory option. Almost all mid-range machines come with the same thing, namely a 512GB M.2 SSD. Again, it will be possible to change it, but the operation will be more tedious since everything will have to be reinstalled behind it, including some drivers that are a bit tedious to find, such as those for the trackpad.
Connectivity level, the chassis of the Ideapad 3 is conventionally equipped, with two USB 3.2, a USB type-C, an HDMI output and an RJ-45 port. As for wireless, know that you will be entitled to an 802.11 ax Wi-Fi card and a handy Bluetooth 5.0 module if you use a wireless headset or mouse.
Videoconferencing enthusiasts will be able to take advantage of an integrated microphone and a 720p webcam with PrivacyShutter (the marketing name of the small component). Finally, be aware that the Ideapad 3 still displays 2.25kg on the scale without its power supply.
