Elmer Figueroa Arce is the real name of the 53-year-old composer who was born on June 28, 1968 into a modest family and who in 1984 began his solo career with an album entitled “Chayanne is my name.”
In an interview with live monday, Chilean program, the interpreter of “Torero” revealed the origin of the pseudonym and his real name, a fact that unleashed laughter among the drivers that even they might not continue the program with composure.
“My parents lived in New York for 18 years,” began the Puerto Rican. “My mother watched a television series. He was a mestizo called Chayanne Body and he gave me the name ‘Chayanne’ as a nickname. My name is Elmer Figueroa”, declared.
“Elmerito”, said one of the drivers between laughs. Immediately, another presenter who was also laughing asked to be forgiven and the teasing continued.
However, the singer clarified that they hardly called him that, even his mother always called him Chayanne, so he had an intimate relationship with the nickname since he was a child, so much so that he appropriated it as the stage name that would take him to fame.
