Chavista supporters demonstrated this Saturday in various cities in Venezuela in support of President Nicolás Maduro, at a time when his re-election is being questioned by the opposition, as well as by national and international organizations and several countries, which are requesting the publication of the electoral records, 20 days after the elections.

According to images broadcast by state channel VTV, activities took place in most regions, with participants carrying flags and traditional symbols of the government, including images of Maduro and his predecessor, the late President Hugo Chavez (1999-2013).

In Caracas, protesters gathered outside the Miraflores Palace, the seat of the Presidency, where, according to the public media, thousands of motorcyclists arrived to support the Chavista “victory” in the elections of July 28.

During the parade, several motorcyclists said they were mobilizing in defense of the “homeland” and against “violence,” while others told the opposition to “go to hell.” The opposition also gathered on Saturday to demand respect for the “victory” of its standard-bearer, Edmundo González Urrutia, who, they say, won the presidential election, despite the official result.

While the government received, according to VTV, the “support” of “social movements around the world,” the opposition gathered thousands of people in various cities on five continents to request the publication of the presidential voting records, considering that the result provided by the National Electoral Council (CNE) is a “fraud.”
