The body of a man was found Sunday in a wooded area in Adstock, not far from Thetford Mines. Police are trying to determine if it might be the victim of an unsolved murder in the area.

It was a citizen who made the macabre discovery, in a wooded area of rang de la Colline, and who contacted the emergency services around 4:45 p.m.
Investigators and technicians from the forensic identification service went to the scene. They found that the death would not be recent.
“There is an investigation currently underway to determine the circumstances of the death of this person who is a man,” said Claude Doiron, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
Murder victim?
The body was brought to the Laboratory of Forensic Sciences and Forensic Medicine in Montreal for autopsy and formal identification.
“We cannot exclude that it might be the body of Frédérik Gagné, who was reported missing on December 17,” said Mr. Doiron.
Gagné, a resident of Thetford Mines, disappeared in unclear circumstances a few days before Christmas.
His vehicle was found in the evening the same day he was last seen, December 17.
Ground searches carried out at the time had not made it possible to find its trace, but the expertise of the vehicle had made progress the investigation quickly.
On December 23, the SQ established that Frédérik Gagné was the victim of a murder and proceeded to the arrest of a 23-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman.
