The Chaudière-Appalaches region is one of three Quebec regions, along with Gaspésie and Outaouais, where a pilot project will be deployed in the fall that will test different technologies aimed at providing better home care in the territory of the Integrated relevant health and social services. According to Radio-Canada, for each of the three targeted regions, 25 patients with heart failure will receive devices at home and can thus be monitored in real time remotely by caregivers.
Voice assistants, watches and connected scales are among the equipment used in the pilot project.
According to the Statistical Institute of Quebec, the proportion of seniors in the Quebec population will increase from 21% in 2022 to 27% in 2066, which places the province among the populations that are aging the fastest in the world.
The deployment of such technological solutions is therefore essential in the years to come in order to compensate for the lack of medical personnel, reduce visits to the emergency room, hospitalizations of the elderly and the pressure on its health network.
