Each customized version of GPT will have its own memory, allowing for a more individualized experience for users. For example, the book-based version will be able to remember which books the user has read and which genres they prefer.
Although the function seems useful, the new feature also raises privacy concerns. Many users are uncomfortable with the idea of the bot storing personal information about them.
On this issue, OpenAI states that users will have control over what ChatGPT remembers and that sensitive information, such as health data, will not be stored. Users can review and manage bot memories in the new “memory management” section in settings.
For now, the function is in the testing phase and only available to a small portion of users. However, it is possible that this functionality will become a fundamental part of interactions with ChatGPT in the near future as chatbots become more intelligent and personalized.
