After Halfway is there Nightmare yet another standalone single from the estate of Suffer Summer. This is once again more convincing than most of the regular material from the Canadian’s third studio album.

The number, written by band leader Brandon Williams and guitarist Scott Downes, has a playing time of just under three and a half minutes – as before Halfway and Suffer Summer – Simon Larochette (bass) and Levi Kertesz (drums) as the rhythm section in the back – and the classic strengths of the Chastity-Trademarks on his site.
What seemed like a reminiscence at first Miss You bubbles and sets itself on a gently swirling marching drums, then quickly switches to the typical, patented emo alternative rock that has been around since Death Lust (2018) has taken to heart. Longing and melancholic, powerful, but much more cautious than Halfway acting.
In the chorus, Ellis alias Linnea Siggelkow joins in as a harmony voice and does Nightmare to an even nicer affair: a catchy, if unspectacular and hardly explicitly from the Chastity-Create an outstanding single that, strictly speaking, lacks the final killer instinct (rated with fan glasses). Suffer Summer but once again feels like a conciliatory step back in the right direction for Williams.
