Charter subsidiary: Braathens relies on Airbus A319

The Swedish regional airline has received a large charter order. Braathens Regional is using five Airbus A319s for this purpose. And she relies on a second brand.

Eleven Avro RJ100s and two smaller RJ85s have operated Braathens Regional Aviation in its history. The Swedish regional airline, which operates as Bra in the market, was hit hard by the Corona crisis and so on she flotted out the last of the cute four-wheelers. Since then, the fleet has only consisted of turboprops – twelve ATR 72.

But now jets are coming back. Because in June Braathens won an order from the large tour operator Ving. The regional airline then announced that it would set up a subsidiary that would operate charter flights between Scandinavia and the Mediterranean, among other places. Now it is clear that she relies on Airbus A319, like the portal Flygtorget writes. The aircraft will be leased, the airline told aeroTELEGRAPH.

incorporation by the end of the year

In doing so, the Braathens name is making a comeback, which hasn’t been seen on aircraft since the introduction of the Bra brand. It works well in Scandinavia, but less internationally, so the reasoning. Braathens wants to have procured the five A319s by the end of the year, with the order starting in spring 2023.
