According to the airport authority, passenger carrying capacity will be significantly higher than in the past two summers, and even higher than in the summer of 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic.

The CEO of the airport, Doug Newson, quoted in a press release, is particularly pleased with Air Canada’s decision to offer a daily connection with Ottawa as of June 1. Air travel, he says, is crucial to the province’s tourism industry.

Mark Galardo, vice-president of network planning at Air Canada, quoted in the same press release, specifies that it will be an Air Canada Express Jazz flight. The aircraft will have 78 seats. The carrier plans to make this flight until October.

The frequency of Air Canada Rouge services with Montreal (136 seats) and with Toronto (168 seats) will increase to possibly three times a day, adds Mr. Galardo.

The mayor of Charlottetown, Philip Brown, also quoted in the press release, recalls that the airport is one of the main points of entry for travelers to Prince Edward Island. He says that we must continue to welcome tourists and business people in a safe manner. He hopes for a prosperous tourist season for his municipality.
