On the December 30 episode of SmackDown, Charlotte Flair made her surprise return and won the SmackDown Women’s Title from Ronda Rousey.
The Nature Boy, incidentally the father of Charlotte Flair, was present behind the scenes of Smackdown but was not apparently aware of the return of his daughter, and even less that she would become champion the same evening.
Ric Flair states in his “To Be The Man” podcast:
“I was backstage and left but I had no idea she was coming back. It was the first time in a very long time that no one knew anything. I went to see Roman Reigns and John Cena, it was a good time, I really felt like I was part of the family once more.
So I went to the American Social (sports bar in Tampa, Florida) then I learned that Charlotte was present. I had a few drinks with the hockey players. I didn’t go back to the show but I watched on TV. It was old-fashioned kayfabe*. »
The return of Charlotte Flair was a big surprise for fans, for many people in WWE but also for her father.
