The Air Guinée file was invited to the meeting, this Friday, November 17, 2023, between the Minister of Justice, Alphonse Charles Wright, and the heads of the country’s Courts and Tribunals. The Minister of Justice revealed that negotiations are underway for the establishment of a rogatory commission to hear the president of the Ufdg.

At the request of the Court for the Repression of Economic and Financial Offenses (Crief), Guinean or Senegalese judges might hear the president of the Ufdg from Senegal in this case. The process of setting up this commission will be facilitated according to the Guinean Minister of Justice through diplomatic channels.

Alphonse Charles Wright made this known by responding to the concerns of the Crief special prosecutor, Aly Touré. Alluding to this file, it indicates that “some of his quotes which are sent to the department [de la Justice] have no return.”

“I will answer you and it will help you,” declared Minister Charles Wright, interrupting prosecutor Aly Touré.

“I take the most recent cases first. For your information, I will tell the director in charge of criminal affairs to tell you the phase of development. When you send, we send through diplomatic channels. Nothing was delayed at our level. As long as we do not have feedback, it is very difficult for us to communicate to you the result that you are requesting because it is carried out at a level where it is only transmitted to us.

I am talking to you, for example, regarding the case of the letter rogatory from Mr. Cellou Dalein Diallo. The Senegalese Minister of Justice called me on this, they have started the work, I cannot reveal everything. This is why we are waiting for the return to be able to communicate this to you,” reassured the Minister of Justice.

Former Prime Minister Cellou Dalein Diallo is being prosecuted in the sale of Air Guinée, a case that dates back more than 20 years. He has been living in exile for over a year. The opponent has reiterated several times his desire to return to Guinea, but first he wishes to have guarantees from the transitional authorities.

It should be remembered that it was in the name of judicial cooperation that Aboubacar Sidiki Diakité alias Toumba was interviewed and repatriated from Senegal to Guinea in 2017. It remains to be seen whether this will be the case for Cellou?
