Charles Leclerc Dominates in Hungarian Grand Prix Practice: Race Highlights and Weather Conditions

Yesterday, Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc of Monaco defied expectations and succeeded in setting the fastest time in the second period of free practice for the Hungarian Grand Prix, the eleventh round of the Formula One World Championship held at the Hungaroring circuit.

Leclerc, who achieved 1.17.686 minutes, advanced by 0.015 and 0.232 seconds, respectively, over British McLaren drivers Lando Norris and French Albin Pierre Gasly, while Japanese Yuki Tsunoda (Alpha Tauri) finished fourth, and fellow Gasly citizen Esteban Ocon fifth.

German Nico Hulkenberg (Haas) scored the sixth fastest time, in front of Alfa Romeo driver Valtteri Bottas, and twice world champion Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin).

Weather

The first period of testing started in rainy weather, and following several accidents that prompted the race management to raise red flags, while the weather conditions improved in the second, bringing the temperature to 22 degrees Celsius.

Quickly, Pires, who had suffered a severe accident in the first period, advanced to sixth place following the Red Bull team succeeded in repairing the faults in his car (later retracted), while the fourteenth place went to Australian Daniel Ricciardo in his beginnings with Alpha Tauri following he replaced Dutchman Nic de Vries following dispensing with the latter’s services, following 11 laps.

Verstappen was late in entering the circuit until the 20th minute, to succeed in putting his upgraded car in second place behind American Williams driver Logan Sergeant, before the latter’s Thai colleague Alexander Albon achieved the fastest time.
