Charles Goodhart: “Inflation will stay between 3.5 and 4.5% for years”

A major figure in international monetary policy for more than half a century, Charles Goodhart maintains that inflation will remain high in the United States and Europe in the coming years. And that central banks underestimate the impact of demographics. The weather met this pioneer, former senior adviser to the Bank of England, also known for “Goodhart’s law” (when a measure becomes an objective, it ceases to be a good measure), on the sidelines of the Swiss Pensions Conference 2023, organized this Tuesday in Geneva.
