Charleroi traveled to Eupen as part of the 12th day of the Pro League. If the Carolos dominated the start of the match, Eupen was able to take advantage at the end of the first period to take the lead. A goal at the start of the 2nd half sealed the winning ambitions of Felice Mazzu’s men. In the standings, and following having had six defeats in a row, Eupen found its way back to success and a 10th place with 13 points, tied with the Zebras, 11th.
After a close start to the match, the Carolos had a big chance before the break. Having recovered a ball in the area following a free kick, Marco Ilaimaharitra fired a shot almost at point blank range, but Gabriel Slonina firmly stopped the attempt (38th).
A few seconds before added time in the first half, the Pandas opened the scoring to everyone’s surprise. Well launched in depth by Isaac Christie-Davies, Jan King placed an unstoppable cross shot for Hervé Koffi (45e, 1-0).
The second period started very badly for Charleroi who conceded less than ten minutes following the start of the second period 2-0. Well served at the penalty spot by Gary Magnee, Kevin Mohwald sent a brushed ball into the back of the net (54th, 2-0).
If the Carolos tried, they failed to score. In added time, Charleroi was close to reducing the score but the lead Youssouph Badji hit the upright (90th+3).
This defeat does not do the business of Felice Mazzu who stagnates in the general ranking and is even overtaken by Eupen who is blowing following six defeats in a row.
