Charleroi and Gantoise neutralized each other with a blank draw on Saturday evening, on behalf of the 23rd day of the Jupiler Pro League championship. The two teams therefore remain tied on points, in 5th and 6th places in the standings.

The first half hour of the match was very poor in opportunity and only a too central strike from Kayembe came to punctuate the exchanges (10th). The first burst came from the feet of Hjulsager, who took over a cross from the left flank and Castro-Montes (32nd) but Kamara, who replaces Koffi who left for the CAN, relaxed well to prevent the ball from finishing his race in the nets.

In the process, Castro-Montes himself took his chance from the entrance to the surface following a clever service from Kums, but his sending was well repelled by Kamara (33rd), brought back to contribution by Bruno a few moments later , well found in the area by Hjulsager (34th). Ilaimaharitra came close to making the difference for Charleroi following an abortive overflow from Zaroury repelled by the defense, but his half-volley stumbled on a Ghent skull (42nd).

The second half started just as calmly as the first. Zaroury almost ignited the powder by wrapping a shot from 20 meters, but Sinan Bolat managed a nice tap to ward off the danger (72nd). About ten minutes later, on a service from Gholizadeh, Bessile dived to regain the cross with a header, but his attempt went to the left of the Ghent goal (83rd).

After a last half-chance for the Gantoise and a missed strike from Bezus (89th), the meeting logically ended with a white score, 0-0.

In the standings, it’s the status quo since the two teams remain 5th and 6th with 36 points each. La Gantoise is ahead on goal difference. Anderlecht and play-offs 1 are three points ahead of them.
