Charleroi airport files a complaint against its former management

The board of directors of Brussels South Charleroi Airport (BSCA) filed a complaint with the Charleroi public prosecutor’s office once morest its ex-CEO Jean-Jacques Cloquet and two other people last September, reports L’Echo on Saturday. The Walloon government, through the Minister in charge of Airports, for its part, filed a declaration of injured party with the courts at the beginning of November.

The Charleroi public prosecutor’s office specifies that a judicial investigation has been opened, and that the existence of an offense remains to be established.

Philippe Verdonck (Charleroi Airport): “Strikes? We got a slap in the face and we didn’t deserve it”

According to several sources close to the case, the alleged facts date from before 2018. They would concern remuneration problems in connection with the rules enacted by the governance decree of the Walloon Region.

As a safeguard, the airport recently decided to launch an internal audit.

Contacted, Jean-Jacques Cloquet expressed his good faith. “If, in the course of my duties at the head of the airport, it turns out that I have involuntarily committed breaches with regard to the decree of the public administrator, it goes without saying that I will take all the measures that necessary, in perfect harmony with the governance of BSCA. I will leave no doubt regarding my integrity.”
