Charleroi Airport Delays: Flights Diverted and Delayed – Latest Updates

2024-02-25 05:15:00

Dozens of flights were delayed or diverted last night at Charleroi airport. It seems that a problem linked to the landing of a plane is at the origin of these embarrassments. We are deploring delays between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. again this Sunday morning.

“A plane coming from Lanzarote is stopped on the runway in Charleroi. Emergency vehicles are nearby. The planes are diverted to Brussels”Luc writes to us via the orange Alert us button. “L’Charleroi airport is blocked and closed for the moment. Many flights are diverted to Brussels and Liège.another person sends us a few minutes later.

“Big embarrassment Ryanair on Charleroi. Flights diverted to different destinations. Passengers, once on land, lack communication and do not know if they can be disembarked or if they will have to return to the Charleroi destination by plane or by bus”Anthony also tells us.

Many of you pushed the orange Alert us button to notify us of a problem at Charleroi airport. Dozens of flights were delayed or diverted last night. The problem was related to landing a plane: “Yesterday evening, around 10 p.m., after landing and when leaving the runway, a plane found itself stuck due to a technical problem. Nothing serious but it blocked the landing gear. Technical services took several hours to resolve the problem”tells us this Sunday morning Julien Pauwels, director of operations for Charleroi airport.

The following planes were therefore sent back to Zaventem or Liège, there were 7 in total. “There is also a plane which was supposed to take off for Marseille this morning which was canceled and postponed until the end of the day”, the operations director tells us. This Sunday morning, the situation is resolved but “there are still some delays to deplore”concludes Julien Pauwels.
