Chariot Green Hydrogen Limited, Université Polytechnique Mohammed VI (UM6P) and Oort Energy Limited (Oort) have recently concluded new partnership agreements aimed at expanding their collaboration and testing the production of green hydrogen in Morocco.

These agreements focus on the establishment of a pilot electrolyser project, including construction, commissioning and operation, as well as the development of skills and training in the sector.

The “proof of concept” pilot project will use a 1 MW polymer membrane electrolyser (PEM) system, patented by Oort. The project is planned to be housed in the research and development facilities of UM6P at OCP Jorf Lasfar, Morocco, which is the largest fertilizer complex in the world.

In parallel, the partnership will also develop education and capacity building at UM6P to support the growth of a green hydrogen economy, while assessing the feasibility of implementing large-scale hydrogen production. green hydrogen and ammonia, in accordance with the schedule initially envisaged.

« The signing of these two agreements is crucial for UM6P. Indeed, the first agreement concerns the testing of a new electrolyser technology offering better performance to be more competitive in the production of green hydrogen, while the second agreement concerns the collaboration in education to train qualified professionals to meet the needs of this new activity in green hydrogen and ammonia“, said Mohamed Bousseta, Director of Innovation for Industry at UM6P.

For his part, Nick van Dijk, CEO of Oort, added: “ Testing the capacity of our electrolyser in an industrial environment is a crucial step in our development plan. The efficiency and sustainability of electrolyzers will play a key role in ensuring that green hydrogen can be produced economically and at scale. We are excited regarding this phase which will help inform our future growth strategies.« .

« This partnership brings together key resources as we seek to develop our knowledge and expertise in this sector for the benefit of all stakeholders involved. This initiative constitutes a new step forward for Chariot as a producer of green hydrogen and will be of real value for our development projects in Morocco and Mauritania, by confirming the performance of the electrolyser.“said Laurent Coche, CEO of Chariot Green Hydrogen.
