Charges of theft, impersonation and extortion led to the arrest of two people, including a distinguished police inspector.
In this context, the regional judicial police service in Casablanca opened a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor, on Monday, September 16, to determine the level and extent of the involvement of two individuals, one of whom is a security officer with the rank of excellent police inspector, in a case related to theft, impersonation, extortion and participation.
According to the initial investigation data, the Casablanca police received a complaint this Monday morning from two minors aged 15 and 17, after their mobile phones were stolen by users of a light vehicle, two of whom were wearing badges similar to those worn by police officers.
The field investigations and inquiries carried out up to this stage of the investigation have made it possible to identify the occupants of the vehicle used in committing these criminal acts and to arrest two of them, namely the driver who works as a police officer and was caught in an advanced state of drunkenness, and another person who was arrested red-handed in possession of mobile phones obtained from the theft and a job badge suspected of being used to impersonate a position regulated by law.
The police officer and the second suspect were placed under police custody pending the judicial investigation ordered by the competent public prosecutor, in order to uncover the criminal acts attributed to each of them, and determine their criminal responsibility in the crimes committed, while security investigations and inquiries continue to arrest the third suspect, whose full identity has been determined.
