Chappell Roan Set to Make SNL Debut on November 2nd

Chappell Roan can officially cross a thrilling milestone off her impressive bucket list!

Roan, a vibrant 26-year-old singer-songwriter, will showcase her musical talents as the featured guest on the highly anticipated Nov. 2 episode of Saturday Night Live — a coveted goal she has fiercely pursued for over a decade.

On Friday, Nov. 1, Roan — born Kayleigh Amstutz — shared a nostalgic screenshot on Instagram, revealing a Facebook status from April 2011 that declared, “I am determined to be on SNL,” highlighting her unwavering aspirations.

The “Good Luck, Babe!” artist excitedly captioned her Instagram post, “@nbcsnl Tmrw night with @johnmulaney 💋.” The episode will be hosted by none other than the charismatic comedian John Mulaney.

Though it remains uncertain whether Roan’s childhood ambitions were centered around being a musical guest or a host, she shared in a conversation with comedian Bowen Yang for Interview Magazine that she initially envisioned a career in acting.

“I originally started doing music because I wanted to get my foot in the door for acting,” Roan expressed candidly. “And then I moved to Los Angeles, and I was like, ‘F— that.’ ”

Roan elaborated, “The industry is legitimately so scary, and it is so out of my control. I can put out music whenever I want. I don’t have to wait for a casting director to be like, ‘It would be great if we cast you, and then we’ll decide your schedule for the next three months.’ “

In preparation for her debut on SNL, Roan appeared in several lively promotional clips for the upcoming episode. The entertaining videos feature a dazzling Roan dressed in an elaborate turquoise costume, standing in solidarity with Mulaney and cast member Ego Nwodim.

“Hi, I’m John Mulaney and I’m hosting SNL this week with musical guest Chappell Roan,” Mulaney enthusiastically announces in the first of two promo videos.

“And we won’t tell anyone our secret,” Nwodim playfully adds, making direct eye contact with the camera, enhancing the humorous appeal of the promo.

“We’ll do sketches,” Mulaney continues, while Roan chimes in, “And I’ll do songs.” The dynamic between them sets the tone for a night full of laughter and memorable performances.

“But we won’t tell anyone our secret,” Mulaney insists with a hint of mischief.

“Because we made a vow to each other to never tell anyone,” the trio humorously declares in unison, leaving viewers intrigued.

The second promotional video cleverly references a viral TikTok trend, featuring Roan’s chart-topping song “HOT TO GO.” In the clip, a comical moment arises as Nwodim hilariously flounders in her attempts to get Mulaney to participate, prompting Roan to muse, “He doesn’t get it, girl.”

Saturday Night Live airs Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC, promising an electrifying evening of entertainment.
