Bogota
At the Simón Bolívar Hospital in Bogotá, an unusual altercation took place in the waiting room when a patient, three security guards and a nurse were involved in a physical fight that included punching, kicking and even using a pen as a weapon. .
The incident originated when a man arrived at the hospital in the morning seeking urgent medical attention due to discomfort in his body. After an evaluation by the nursing staff, he was informed that his condition was not considered a vital emergency and that he had to wait in the waiting room along with the other patients. The patient, however, considered this decision unfair and expressed his discontent.
A witness to the confrontation said the situation escalated when the patient aggressively closed the office door. Subsequently, the North Health Subnet issued a statement stating that the patient physically assaulted one of the security guards.
This is supported by video evidence obtained from the hospital’s security cameras. Faced with this response, considered exaggerated, the Subnetwork asked the responsible surveillance company to withdraw the team of guards from the North Subnetwork and carry out disciplinary investigations to clarify the incident.
