As Israel’s attacks on Lebanon’s Iran-backed militia Hezbollah intensified, on the one hand, this militia has weakened, and on the other hand, chaos and dissension are emerging in its ranks. Many members are angry and ambivalent about Iran.
According to media reports, Israel’s sporadic attacks on Iranian-backed militias have weakened its infrastructure. In the past fifteen to twenty days, several important commanders of Hezbollah have been martyred in Israeli attacks. Among them are Ibrahim Aqeel and Ahmad Wahbi, senior commanders of the Elite Force Al-Rizwan.
The loss of life and property is huge. Hezbollah’s arsenal has weakened. With the martyrdom of several important commanders, the head of the militia, Hassan Nasrallah, has been left alone at the top.
Many Hezbollah members have also expressed dismay at talks with Iran’s military (the Revolutionary Guards).
