In which Mr. Dhanin answered the question regarding the high-speed rail project that “I think high-speed rail is a very important thing to transform a country. The high-speed train is not the only high-speed train. Having to connect to Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, we will be the true center. Because there are 2 deep sea ports, 3 airports and in the Eastern Economic Corridor, there is an industry with 70% of the country’s GDP income.

“But it’s not enough here. must connect to Laos and China that has already reached Laos Because Kunming, Xishuangbanna, there are both Chinese people and 700 million people from all over the world come to visit. If we take a train to travel to Thailand for 20-30 million people, Thailand has no place to travel. it means a lot But do not look short 220 kilometers (Don Mueang-Suvarnabhumi-U-Tapao). It is important to connect neighboring countries. Take goods from the port to sell to Laos. China has penetrated to Europe, ”said Dhanin.

For a mega project, a high-speed train connecting 3 airports runs from Don Mueang to Suvarnabhumi. Ends at U-Tapao, a distance of 220 kilometers, an investment of 224,544 million baht, the deal was closed on October 24, 2019.

The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) and the Eastern Economic Corridor Policy Office (EEC) are the owners of the project and Asia Erawan Co., Ltd. (CP Group) is the concessionaire for construction. Operation and commercial development of stations around stations or TOD Makkasan and Si Rat Stations for 50 years, including the Airport Rail Link.

For this project, CP has a joint venture partner consisting of Charoen Pokphand Holding Co., Ltd., Bangkok Expressway and Metro Company Limited. Public Company Limited or BEM CH. Karnchang Public Company Limited Italian-Thai Development Company Limited Public Company Limited and China Railway Construction Corporation Limited or CRCC.

The project line will pass through 5 provinces, consisting of Bangkok, Samut Prakan, Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Rayong, with 9 stations, namely Don Mueang, Bang Sue, Makkasan, Suvarnabhumi, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Sriracha, Pattaya and U-Tapao. The construction will take 5 years and is expected to begin construction by 2023.

When completed, it will be a major transportation infrastructure for the country. And is a magnet to attract more foreign investors to invest in Thailand. Especially the Eastern Special Development Zone or EEC. that the government is driving to push Thailand into the center of the region perfectly
