The terrorist group “Al-Qaeda” threatened to carry out terrorist operations in India following the statements of the former representative of the ruling party regarding the Prophet Muhammad.
Zee News quoted the group’s statement as threatening to carry out terrorist acts with the participation of suicide bombers “in Delhi, Mumbai, as well as the states of Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat.
The former representative of India’s ruling party, Nippur Sharma, made a number of statements regarding Islam and the Prophet Muhammad during a debate on national television last week.
Her statements sparked a diplomatic row with a number of Muslim countries, including Iran, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, which condemned anti-Muslim statements. A number of countries summoned the ambassadors of India to protest. On the other hand, the Government of India and the ruling party distanced themselves from these statements, and Sharma was removed from her post and denied membership in the party.
On Tuesday, police in New Delhi began guarding Sharma herself and her family due to threats made to her following her remarks. Police have also opened 3 criminal cases in relation to the threats received by Sharma.
