700,000 insured people could massively reduce their premiums
A Comparis comparison shows the savings potential when switching health insurance companies. Insured people then pay up to 50 percent less.
Around 700,000 insured people could save 40 percent or more on health insurance premiums next year. This is shown by an analysis by the comparison service Comparis. Anyone who switches to a cheaper health insurance provider in their own region, increases the deductible or adapts the insurance model benefits.
The highest savings potential is in the canton of Zug. Comparis calculates that those with standard insurance at Helsana can save a full 53 percent if they switch to Concordia’s HMO model.
177,000 people could reduce costs by 20 to 30 percent with the minimum deductible of 300 francs when changing insurance or model. By switching to the cheapest model, around 407,000 insured people could benefit.
More than the highest franchise
Even insured people with a maximum deductible of 2,500 francs can save 20 to 30 percent by switching to another health insurance provider. “Insured people should not simply be content with choosing the highest deductible from their own insurance company. There is often much greater savings potential when you switch,” says Comparis health insurance expert Felix Schneuwly.
According to the comparison, a change is also interesting for those with family doctor insurance. In the canton of Lucerne, you can save a maximum of 29 percent per year by switching from Visana to the EGK health insurance fund.
Premiums will rise in 2024 by an average of 8.7 percent.
