Changes planned for some apprenticeships

The ministry is sending the new apprenticeship package for review today, Friday. This includes, among other things, three new apprenticeships: fiber composite technology, district heating technology and climate gardener. A revision of the job profiles is planned for the apprenticeships of electronics, wood technology, metal design and surveying and geoinformation technology. And the regulations for final apprenticeship examinations are to be reissued for prospective hotel and restaurant specialists and stonemasonry graduates.

It is also planned that the training trials for building sealing technology, bicycle mechatronics, make-up artist/make-up artist, local and distribution logistics and sports equipment specialist will be converted into regular apprenticeships or at least extended. The assessment period ends on June 7th; the relevant regulations should come into force in July so that they can be implemented in the 2024/25 training year.

“With modern apprenticeships, we want to position apprenticeships as a particularly attractive form of training,” said Economics Minister Martin Kocher (ÖVP). “The new apprenticeship package contributes to this goal through new job profiles and new teaching content, such as digitalization and sustainability.”
