Changes in the sale of liberated bread in Havana

Our daily bread continues to be a cause for concern for Cubans. Lack of sufficient wheat flour, a lower grammage and a questionable quality, are some of them. The one in the cellar is not enough to cover the needs at home. Then you have to go to other ways, not always cheap.

Precisely the Provincial Company of the Food Industry (EPIA) in Havana advertisement on his Facebook account he announced changes in the sale of released bread.

“The sale of released bread has already begun in the municipalities of the capital with a new formulation and weight, which has been well accepted by the population. The 80g DOG BREAD with EXTENDER is already available at a price of 12 Cuban pesos”.

At the end of the note it is reported that the bread of the Basic Basket does not undergo any change, since “it continues to be ROUND BREAD of 80g with a sale price of 1 Cuban peso”.

Reactions in the networks

Little is needed, like this brief note from EPIA, for people’s complaints and disagreements to surface. The publication has dozens of comments, most of them negative.

“Please, what are they going to do with the bread from the panera on Cuba street. They bring the bread late every day and it never weighs 80g, today the 5 loaves that I get weighed 280g and the manager is never in the bakery”, wrote a user.

While another, alluding to the photo in the publication, stated a resounding “False! It doesn’t even look like it, they look like sticks, better than 80 grams round, these are very bad.”

For Dianelis Duany, quality does not justify a price increase:

“But why raise the price? What happens??? That’s why individuals who sell bread laugh at this. Of course, there will never be competition for them”.

Omayda Zamora insists on quality. According to her, “not even four-legged dogs deserve that, much less pay $12 for bread that has no weight and much less quality.”

Another evil is the theft of raw materials destined for the black market, as Dania García assures:

“What a big lie… In the #LaAguja bakery in Cojimar, you can’t even see bread for free anymore… Black bag between bakers, administration and store manager… State criminals, ”he wrote in his comment.
