Robert Ljubicic’s move from Rapid Vienna to Dinamo Zagreb is perfect. Hütteldorfer announced the transfer of the 22-year-old to the Croatian soccer champions on Monday. Ljubicic had been linked with Dinamo Zagreb for weeks. Rapid also hit the transfer market on Monday and took offensive player Ante Bajic from SV Ried.
Ljubicic was trained in Rapid’s youth and returned to the record champions in the summer of the previous year. After strong performances, the midfielder is now moving on. “Robert absolutely fulfilled our expectations last season. He informed us in good time that he wanted to move to his parents’ home country,” said Rapid sports director Zoran Barisic.
“I was very happy to work for Grün-Weiss every day, and it was also particularly important to me to give everything for the club right up to the last minute,” said Ljubicic in parting. “Rapid will always hold a special place in my heart.”
Bajic comes from Ried
Shortly before that, Rapid had made the sixth transfer for the season that started in mid-July. Bajic scored nine goals this season at Ried and signed a contract in Hütteldorf until the summer of 2025. “He brings speed and intensity and has also proven his goal threat several times,” said Ferdinand Feldhofer regarding the 26-year-old.
He “is a very versatile player on the offensive who, among other things, has a real weapon with his speed. His athletic development has been really good, especially in the last few seasons, and I’m also convinced that he can and will continue to improve with us,” said Barisic, who previously had Roman Kerschbaum, Patrick Greil, Nicolas Kühn, Aleksa Pejic and Michael Sollbauer brought to Hütteldorf. Born in the Innviertel, Bajic was trained across the border in the offspring of Wacker Burghausen and came to Ried via Gurten in 2018.
