Change in rain warning, yellow alert reduced to 5 districts; Rain will continue till 20th

Thiruvananthapuram: Change in rain warning in the state. Yellow alert which was in 9 districts has been reduced to 5 districts. Yellow alert is currently in Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. Yellow alert has been announced in various districts till 20th. But the chances of rain which was widespread in Kerala are expected to decrease in the coming days.

Central Meteorological Department has announced yellow alert in various districts
17-07-2022: Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, Kasaragod
18-07-2022: Idukki, Malappuram, Kasaragod
19-07-2022: Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram, Kannur, Kasaragod
20-07-2022: Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram
Yellow alert has been announced in the districts. Chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast. Heavy rains mean rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.

Rain continues in northern districts of the state and monsoon is forecast to weaken from tomorrow

Fisherman’s Alert

There is no restriction on fishing in Kerala-Lakshadweep coasts. Central Meteorological Department has informed that it is not allowed to go fishing in Karnataka coast from 17-07-2022 to 18-07-2022.
Chance of strong wind and bad weather at 40 to 50 kmph at occasional 60 kmph at Karnataka coast from 17-07-2022 to 18-07-2022.

Special precautions

From 17-07-2022 to 18-07-2022: Chance of strong wind and bad weather conditions in Central Arabian Sea with speed of 45 to 55 kmph and occasional speed of 65 kmph.
Fishing is not allowed in the above areas during the warning dates.

High wave warning

The National Center for Oceanographic Studies (INCOIS) has informed that there is a possibility of wave height of 3.0 to 3.3 meters along Kerala coast (Vizhinjam to Kasaragod) till 11.30 pm on 18-07-2022.
Fishermen and coastal residents remain vigilant.
1. As the rough seas are likely to intensify, stay away from the danger areas as per the instructions of the authorities.
2. Keep fishing vessels (boats, boats, etc.) safely moored in the harbor. Keeping a safe distance between boats can avoid the risk of collision. Safety of fishing equipment should be ensured.
3. Avoid trips to the beach and fun at sea altogether.
