People’s Party mourns the death of former Federal Minister Marilies Flemming
Vienna (OTS) – “With Marilies Flemming, a special person and a great politician has left us,” said Federal Chancellor and Federal Party Chairman Karl Nehammer, emphasizing: “We all wish their relatives a lot of strength in these difficult hours and express our sympathy. For many years, we experienced Marilies Flemming as a self-confident and responsible woman and politician who was held in high esteem beyond party lines.”
General Secretary Christian Stocker agrees with the expression of condolence: “With Marilies Flemming, an early and great fighter for women’s rights, equal rights for women in politics and our environment has passed away. In all the years that Marilies Flemming worked for the People’s Party as a member of the state parliament, as Minister for the Environment, Youth and Family and most recently as a member of the European Parliament, she had a strong influence on Austria and paved the way for future generations of women in politics. For this, she deserves the recognition and gratitude of the People’s Party and Austrian politics. We will never forget what you have done for our country, dear Marilies.”
