Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan: Chairman PCB

Pakistan Cricket Board (pcb) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has said on Monday that Champions Trophy It will be in Pakistan, in which the eight best teams of the world are coming.

In a news conference in Lahore, he said that some elements wanted the Champions Trophy not to be held in Pakistan, but the ICC has approved the budget for the Champions Trophy.

Announcing three new champions tournaments in the domestic cricket season, he said, ‘It will involve five teams and the cup will be held annually.’

He said that ‘Our domestic system is not bad but there is room for improvement in domestic cricket and for this purpose the chief selector should select the players for the domestic champions cup on merit.’

Chairman PCB said that ‘the aim of all these measures is that we have around 150 best players at all times.’

According to him: ‘Former captain Waqar Younis is looking at this setup of five teams and I have given the responsibility to Waqar Younis to prepare the team so that we have options when players are needed.’

Mohsin Naqvi said that ‘Foreign players will also participate in the Domestic Champions Cup and it will be a pool of 150 players.’

He said, “It will be held in all three formats, in which the Champions Cup ODI, Champions Cup T20 and Champions First Class Cup will be held and the new season will begin on September 1 with the Champions ODI tournament.”

He further said that the purpose of these tournaments is to bring national cricket to international standards. Our current ranking does not reflect Pakistan’s true potential, so we have to restore our original position.’

Mohsin Naqvi said that ‘in this season, more matches will be played at pathway and development level.’

Waqar Younis said on the occasion that ‘I want to thank Chairman PCB for trusting me as the cricket situation is in front of us and we have to improve it further.’

“The product is in front of us and we will not move forward until the product is right. This format is good to include legends and big players and give them responsibilities, if the cricketers are not going to take over the cricket,” he said. So cricket will go down a lot.’

Answering a question, Waqar Younis said that ‘I hope that the problem of likes and dislikes in the team will be resolved soon.’
